About us

Over the last 3 years Sumo has built up an enviable reputation as one of the best live music venues in Leicester.

In 2007 Sumo saw some of the years’ best acts including Pigeon Detectives, Jack Penate, The Twang, Reverend and The Makers, Maps, Eighties Matchbox, The Whip, Late of the Pier, Annuals, Grizzly Bear, Kissaway Trail, The Strange Death of Liberal England, Victorian English Gentlemens Club, Video Nasties, Mistys Big Adventure, Pete and The Pirates, The Answering Machine and many more.

Shows in 2008 included: Ocean Colour Scene, Sam Sparro (first UK show), These New Puritans, The Metros, Elle Milano, Jersey Budd, Palladium, We Smoke Fags, Operator Please, Wild Beasts, Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Captain, Johnny Flynn, Amusement Parks on Fire, The Displacements .

All our big name shows are part of our successful Club Beaux Yeux club nights. Club Beaux Yeux has built up a name for bringing up and coming and successful acts to Sumo.
